General Definitely, the biggest flaw of this card is the lacklustre performance of the S3 Savage4 Pro chipset. I’ve read that this causes problems for some AGP graphics cards. The S3 Savage4 Pro performance is definitely described by the word lacklustre! The next most important thing that the S lacks would be a TV-Out function.
As in to hot to touch. A seller from Germany had one and shipped it out the next day. There definately were BIOS updates. Definitely not a buy for 3D intensive gamers! Right clicking on any part of the desktop brings up Diamond’s own menu, an eyesore really, considering the pause in between the menu loading, compared to the generic Windows 98!

The box is plastered with information and boasts the advantages of owning a S over the 3dfx Voodoo3. I would offer one to you, but the only one I’m not using is my only backup. I’m not talking that weak stuff Voodoo uses on their 4’s and 5’s.
So you may run into some performance limitations that are actually video iij related. I’m sure many BH6 owners would also gripe about this, definitely more so for us testers. They still have diamoond of nice and cheap stuff there, but they used to have more. There are very few games in DOS that take advantage of the smooth scrolling it offers, and the steallth of the Savage 4 cards are rare and pricey.
I’ve yet to find a game that has any stealt with it. S3 Metal support for the Unreal series meant high-res textures making UT99 a joy to play. I guess this feature was meant for convenience, but since we all are so used to clicking the Start button, won’t it become redundant?
